Board Meeting

Morning Crafters!!  The board of HHC's took off for the weekend.  Tammy has the best boss ever!  He let us use his home in Angel Fire, NM.  It is beautiful there!...and very cool.  Most days got up to 77 degrees.  Tammy and I both were celebrating our birthdays and Prissy was our present.  LOL!  We had a great time.  We all considered this our monthly board meeting.  We took some crafts to work on.  Tammy & I practied our Copic coloring and Prissy did some sketching.  It was great.  We also spent a day in Red River and did the tourist thing.  We all hated to come back but we had too.  We have some ideas running through our heads so please stay tuned for details.

What's Going On

Just thought I would pop in to show you what I've been doing.

I started drawing a series of "Skelly"  friends . They are" Esmeralda and Edmund ". I'm currently working on making stamps from Esmeralda and Edmund. For now they are canvas paintings. The other two thirds of this Happy Hour group share a birthday (which makes it very easy for me to remember B-Days). I wanted to share with you what I shared with my two friends.

If you read any of our blogs you know Tammy is the tech helper to Freddie and I. She is in the know when we have NO clue of how or what to do. We would still be using a string and a tin can for communication if she was not here to help us. Here is her very own Esmeralda as " Techno Chick ".

I truly hope you have stopped by Freddie's blog to see all the treasures he creates. You will not be disappointed. Lots of goodies to look at over there at  Just-A-Craftin. So here is Freddie's Edmund appropriately " Just-A-Craftin ".

Happy B-Day my fellow Happy Hour Crafters.

Paper Cowgirl Art Retreat

I had to share this!  Prissy and Tammy have gone to Waxahachie,TX for the Paper Cowgirl Art Retreat this weekend.  They are taking a couple of the classes and these pics show what they made in the first class.  They made a soldered flower necklace.  The first pic is of Tammy's.  I think is looks great!  I love all the little details.  She worked really hard on this.  She said she had to get some help in the end because her hands starting hurting.  The second pic is a close up of Prissy's.  It's beautiful...don't you think?  She said pictures do not do this project justice, they look better in person.  I can't wait to see them.  They are working on another project today.  Hopefully we will get more pics so I can share some more.  Please leave a comment and let the girls know what you think of their necklaces.

Skull Appreciation Day Blog Hop

Hey Crafters!  We have something exciting happening.  We recently came across this website for Smeared Ink stamps.  They carry a lot of the Gothic and Day of the Dead stamps.  They have organized a blog hop for Skull Appreciation Day on June 4th....of course the theme is skulls.  If you don't know what a blog hop is...we didn't either until recently...LOL!  It is a way to showcase your projects.  They usually give you a theme and then create a list of blogs and you can go from blog to blog and view everyone's projects.  A great way to get your name and projects out there for everyone to see.  Prissy and I hopped on board and have created a few items.  Starting on Saturday morning June 4th you can view ours and others projects.  You can click here to start the hop on Saturday at Smeared and Smudged

Handy Suggestion

A suggestion came in from one of our friends recently.  She said she would appreciate a column on our blog about new products and what we thought of them.  We at, Happy Hour Crafts, love to play with the newest and greatest tools and products.  Because we don't have access to all the newest and greatest we will share a little tip with you.  We go to a site call Craft Critique to check out the new products and they always have reviews listed which we have found to be very reliable.  If you have any questions or wonder about any new items out on the market this is the site to check out.  I hope you find it as helpful as we have.  Cheers and happy crafting!!

Twine flowers

While walking around Michaels Prissy and I came upon some flowers.  They looked like they could have been made out of twine or yarn.  We kept looking at them when I finally said "I think I could make this flower."  I came home and dug out some twine I had and was very excited to find I found something to do with it.  Another idea came to mind...I wonder if I could mist the twine.  I made two flowers, one I left natural and the second I used some Maya Road mist on it.  I also played with different embellishments.  I used a pearl brad on one and on the other I used mini glass beads applied with Glossy Accents.  I think this idea with be shared in a class soon.  Don't forget our upcoming class on April 18th, its the Shadowbox Book.  You can get the information about this class on our blog.

Successful Spring Garland Class

We had our Spring Garland Class this morning and it was a huge success!  We got some positive feedback from everyone.  We heard from several people that they did learn something new. We really got to show off some of the products that you can not find in this area.  We have to thank Maya Road for that!  We were amazed at some of the natural talent we had in class.  The first pic shows everyone working so hard on their projects.  No one got to finish the garland but everyone did get to the point that all they have to do it decorate it.  We had fun misting, playing with Stickles, and learning to make some new flowers.  Then it was onto Prissy's secret project.  Everybody really liked her project.  The second pic shows Wally applying her tulle around her frame and the last pic shows Jessica's finished project.  Everybody did a great job!!  Now onto planning the next class which we did show in class and we already had three people sign up.  This project will be featured within the next day or two so please sign up as soon as you can. This project will feature lots of new ideas and products.

Cute as a Cupcake card

This is a little project I made over the weekend.  I got this idea from a bib I saw while out shopping with Prissy and my sister Krissy.  I thought it would make a great card for a baby shower I was going to over the weekend.  I cut the cupcake from the Sweet Treats cartridge by Cricut, added German glass glitter to the cake portion to give it a frosting appearance also with some added bling.  I stamped the background with some of my favorite swirl stamps by Inkadinkado, and made the tag from some spare chipboard I had.  I distress all edges with Vintage Photo by Ranger.  Lastly, I took a baby washcloth and used it as my candle.  I used Stickles to add a little glimmer to the wick.  It's a simple and fun card to make.  The expectant mom really liked the card and she thought I was very inventive with the washcloth.

Copic Training

I wanted to show you the cards we made in our Copic class over the weekend at The Crafty Scrapper.  I think we were amazed at the endless possibilities of these markers.  Frank, our instructor, taught us a lot.  I have had a set of markers that Tammy gave me awhile back but didn't really know what I could do with them.  Prissy had her set of markers she has collected over the last couple of years.  In this class Frank taught of the basics of shading.  It was great to walk away with some samples to refer back too.  We can't wait to sit down with Tammy and show her what we learned.  Frank told us he offers two more classes which is something we may have to check into.  I wonder if anyone in our area would be interested in learning more about Copic makers?  Get's you thinking doesn't it?

Plum Wore Out!

Hello from Dallas!  Prissy & I survived our day at The Crafty Scrapper.  It was a long fun day.  We took two classes.  First was a Spring Bouquet Snowglobe, it was fun to make and the people in our class were great.  Second we took the basics of Copic markers.  We really had to pay attention in this class so not many laughs but we did learn alot.  We will post pics of all the projects we made.  We are excited to show them to you.  We waived several times to our friend Tammy who had her own adventure this weekend.  She went to NASCAR with her co-workers and from her postings and text messages sounds like she had a great time too.  So you can see from the title of this posting we have all been busy and are PLUM WORE OUT!  LOL!!
